5086 Aluminum Sheet/Aluminum Plate

5086 alloy is the anti-rust series with the main elements Al--Mg.It is not strengthened by heat treatment, instead becoming stronger due to strain hardening, or cold mechanical working of the material. Since heat treatment doesn't strongly affect the strength, 5086 can be readily welded and retain most of its mechanical strength. The good weldability and corrosion properties in seawater makes 5086 extremely popular for vessel gangways, and boat/yacht hulls. It is considered a sister alloy to aluminum alloy 5083 with comparable characteristics but slightly less strength.

5086 aluminum sheets are widely used in the circumstances that require high corrosion resistance, excellent weldability and medium strength, such as: ships, automobile and inserter welding assemblies, fireproof pressure vessels, refrigeration equipment, television tower, drilling equipment, transport and communication facilities, missile elements, plate armors and so on.
